My First Digital Camera: Canon SD1000
I did it, I finally purchased my first digital camera.
So What?
Lots of people don’t have digital cameras, but myself and others have always believed it to be rather strange that I don’t own one. Here are a few reasons:
- This is the 21st century
- I work with computers/technology/digital photos every day
- I have disposable income
- I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the past working on open source photo gallery software (for digital images)
Why This Camera?
Cheap, cheap cheap. I picked up the camera from Amazon with a 2GB SanDisk Ultra II card for $200.00 after tax and shipping. It’s not the best, and it’s not the worst. The SD1000 doesn’t have IS like some of the more expensive PowerShots, but for the cost I’ll accept it.
Why Now?
I’ve been meaning to purchase a DSLR for months now, but couldn’t bring myself to it. I still haven’t decided if I would actually lug one around or even want to take photos. The SD1000 is like a starter camera, if I use it I will consider getting a better one. After Rafe twittered about the SD1000 cost being so low on Amazon, I figured now was the time to strike, so I bit the bullet and added that bad boy to my cart.
